Wow, do you ever have one of those weekends where you just go non-stop? I’m actually relieved it’s a Monday so we can slow down! We decided to really tackle our to do list this weekend. But first I had to drink a very large cup of coffee and admire my Rising Sun Redbud tree. It’s so pretty!
Over 2 days I was able to strip and stain our little neglected fence section on our side yard. Luckily it was really warm outside so being dripping wet didn’t really bother me. I even went to town and power sprayed the brick fence clean. You can read more about this here.
Next, (after a good shower) I painted over my stripes in the entry way. I loved them for a while, but I gradually became tired of them. It’s been on my list for a while now.
I’ve painted so much in my life that painting a wall is so easy I could do it in my sleep. One wall is nothing. What was a pain is I needed to sand the walls. I’ve never painted over stripes, and yep the paint that collects at the tape edge could be seen even with fresh paint.
So after another large cup of coffee I hand sanded the wall. I managed to get most of the wall smooth, at least the visible areas. I may eventually do something fun with this wall again but for now I like it plain. The wall color is Bleeker Beige by Benjamin Moore and if your curious the darker wall stripe was Greenbrier Beige, also by Ben.
After all that wall sanding and painting the fence was all dry. Thanks March heat wave! Over Saturday and Sunday I was able to get the fence all stained and cute looking. Brian even added wood trim to the top of our fence for a more custom look. You can read about this here.
Then still in energizer bunny mode, I re-stained the yard swing. Plus, we drained, cleaned and refilled our hot tub that had turned green. I think it turned green in honor of St. Patricks Day, those pesky leprechauns!
My husband and I came up with a solid plan for our future square foot garden and he built the boxes. I’ll have more on that later.
After all that work we were pretty hungry so I made up a batch of these chicken parmesan meatballs, inspired by my daughters entree choice at Friday’s lunch. Super yummy, and healthy! You can find the recipe here.
Wow. We’re tired. Its official. It’s pretty bad when you look forward to a Monday so you can rest. I didn’t get around to staining our garden boxes, but that will be our project next weekend, it’s a special soy based stain I’m excited to try. Stay tuned!
