Today I thought I’d share with you some of my summertime beauty favorites.  We all want to look our best in the hot sweaty summer, right?  I’m an extreme beauty product junkie whether it’s skincare, makeup, or hair products.  I buy everything.  Some items I’ve found to be absolutely essential, while others are just so-so and some are complete flops.  So while know I have 10,000 beauty products over flowing from my bathroom I’m going to share my summer go-to essentials.  I can’t live without these products.  Take my summer beauty favorites away and I’ll scream like my little 2 year old niece Lilly.  So drum roll….here’s my Summer 2017 list that made the cut.

Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Cleaning Spray $37

I’m going to say it.  I hate washing my hair.  It’s 2017 and it’s ok for women to admit they don’t wash their hair everyday.  It doesn’t mean you’re gross, we still shower.  We all know by now shampooing and styling less is much better for your hair, and with so many dry shampoos on the market I surely can’t be the only person who dreads washing and styling their hair.  I usually wash my hair 2-3 times a week and schedule hair washings around my sweaty workouts.  I think I’ve tried every dry shampoo that’s ever existed and Kevin Murphy is hands down my favorite!  Why you ask?  I feel it really cleans my hair without that chalky gritty dry feeling you can get from dry shampoo and the scent is light, clean, and perfect for summer.  Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s Kevin Murphy, and I find all his hair products incredible.   Plus a bottle lasts me quite a long time…as long as my teen daughters don’t find it!

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Rose $24

I love Fresh sugar lip treatment!  My favorite shade is the Rose, but you can find lots of incredible shades to pick from.  The color is sheer, yet noticeable.  You can build the color to intensify it and also layer it over your regular lipstick for lip protection.   It’s extremely moisturizing and full of antioxidants, and the SPF 15 helps protect your lips so you can look super fab whether running errands in the summer heat or lounging at the pool.

Red Carpet Kolour Body Glow $50

I’m so lazy when it comes to self tanner.  I just find it a hassle and I forget to put it on, yet I want a gorgeous skin glow. Luckily, Red Carpet Kolour is perfect for people like me.  Or maybe you already have a tan but you still want your skin to have a beautiful glow.  It has a hint of shimmer that may put some people off, but I really like it.  Once it dries I have found it doesn’t rub off, yet it easily washes off in the shower.  Depending on what color you pick – the light, medium, or tan – it gives your skin a beautiful movie star glow with light shimmer.  It photographs beautifully and helps blur any skin imperfections.  I like to use the light color in the winter, but in the summer I prefer the medium or tan color.  There isn’t a ton of color difference between medium and tan (I have both).  If I had to pick a shade I might go with medium because it’s more versatile.  At around $50 it’s a little pricey, but a bottle can easily last you all summer.  My back up body bronzer is Charlotte Tilbury Super Model Body  which is $65 for 2.2 ounces so I think Red Carper Kolour is a much better option being 5.5 ounces and costing less!

Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer $30

Too Faced facial bronzers have always been my favorite.  I’m careful to keep my face shielded from the sun, so a good bronzer is essential for me or I’ll look like I’m ill.   Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer gives you a beautiful natural bronze glow without too much sparkle.  My face is so pale I actually use this year round but I apply it a little heavier in the summer.  The color is long lasting and the adorable compact is also a plus.

Tree Hut Sugar Scrub $5.99

Tree Hut Sugar Scrubs are another summer staple of mine.  It can be found in the beauty section of some grocery stores, as well as Ulta and Amazon.  There are so many incredible scents I can’t even list my favorite.  Just get to a store and smell them all.  These scrubs leave my skin exfoliated and smooth all summer long.  I have to sometimes hide it from my two daughters because they use it up so fast.  The only negative is sometimes the sweet sugar can attract ants to the shower so be sure and rinse it off your shower floor well.

Hemp Fresh Coconut and Watermelon body moisturizer $12

Hemp body moisturizers are incredibly rich and moisturizing yet at they absorb easily into the skin without a greasy feel that lingers.  The Fresh Coconut and Watermelon scent is perfect for summer time.  You can find Hempz body moisturizers at tanning salons, Ulta, and of course Amazon.  Use Tree Hut Sugar scrub followed with Hempz Body Moisturizer and your skin will feel amazing!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater $7

I use this heavily on my face in the summer.  You see, I have oily, fussy skin.  After a long sweaty day I use this to freshen up my face as needed.  It’s also great for after a workout, when sweat can leave your face feeling itchy and dry.  Sometimes the acne products I use will occasionally leave my skin feeling extra tight and dry and this spray comes to the rescue.  It’s a great pick me up for anytime your skin needs a boost, and when my skin is feeling overly oily I can skip my moisturizer and just spritz my face and apply my usual sunscreen.  It’s also great for keeping skin fresh and hydrated during air travel.

Drybar The Chaser Shine Cream $29

For me summer time in Texas or traveling anywhere south means massive frizz.  I love having nice hair but I hate battling the dreaded frizz.  Drybar’s The Chaser shine cream whips my hair into shape by taming summer time frizz and also adding extra shine to my hair.  The Chaser is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, and is suitable for all hair types so its a win-win for all.

Jan Marini Physical Protectant SPF 45 $40

I’ve been searching all my adult life for a sunscreen that my oily, acne prone skin would tolerate.  I have tried so many sunscreens suitable for oily, acne prone skin, but after a few hours my makeup and sunscreen would start to run off my face, not to mention the breakouts they would cause.  I will say no sunscreen has ever been 100 percent perfect for me, but Jan Marini’s Physical Protectant has hands down been the best ever that I’ve used.  This weightless sunscreen has a tinted matte finish with microscopic sponges for oil control.  Its contains powerful antioxidants and is also waterproof.  At the end of the day I can still get oily from this sunscreen but not near the mountain slide of oil I’ve experienced with other sunscreens.  If your skin is normal or dry you should still check it out because it seems to be a good all for all skin types.  It’s ideal to purchase from a doctors office or medical spa.  You can visit www.janmarini.com for a location near you.   I purchase mine from Trinity Aesthetics and Laser in Colleyville, Tx.  If you can’t find a local retailer it is available for purchase online.

I’ve had great luck with these products and I hope you will too!  If you have any summer hair, skin or make-up essentials let me know in the comments below!  I’m always on the look out for new products.  Thanks for reading!
