I’ve had my December loves on my mind the past few weeks, and I’ve also had charity and serving others on my mind. In case you’re not familiar with my blog, every month I post about some of the great shoppable things I have found. But I’m not linking any products in this post because nothing compares to how much I love the SoupMobile organization. They are my monthly love for December, and I want to take this time to tell you all about this wonderful organization. Maybe it will inspire you to donate or volunteer to this group or another charity that you feel passionately about. It is the season of giving, hope, and love.
The SoupMobile is a Christian based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping the homeless in Dallas. Their goal is to help feed and shelter homeless men, women, and children and provide ministry services. Founded in 2003, they have an extensive outreach program to feed and shelter the homeless, in addition to having a chapel located in the heart of Dallas.
Here’s the best part, each year they take 500 homeless men, women, and children and with donations and amazing volunteers they give them a wonderful, magical Christmas. The homeless are brought to the Dallas Omni Hotel on Christmas Eve where they make a grand entrance on the red carpet and are welcomed by numerous volunteers full of Christmas cheer. They’re served a wonderful meal then watch a Christmas performance before being given a luxurious hotel room to spend the night. The goal is to give the homeless a magical Christmas filled with love and generosity.
I’ve known about this group for a while and always wanted to help cook and serve in any way I can. Our family has decided to volunteer on Christmas Eve, and I can’t think of a better way to honor Jesus and his people. Those wanting to help, there are plenty of opportunities for locals and non-locals. First of all, locals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can help by volunteering your time in numerous ways, check out some of the many volunteer opportunities. Wrapped shoe boxes are also needed filled with essentials for our homeless men and women. Those who would love to help but live farther away consider becoming a member of the SoupMobile Dream Team, with just a donation of $5 a month you can help feed and make the difference in a homeless person’s life.
The season is all about kindness and serving others, and maybe another organization speaks to you. I’m here to encourage your Christmas spirit and spread the love this season. Please join me!
